Phone Books And Yellow Pages – Relics Of The Past?

There once was a time in a land not so far away that the yellow pages ruled the roost when it came to finding local services and companies.

But as people have become ever more used to hopping online to find the latest gadgets, do their shopping or indeed find local services the poor old yellow pages and directories fall from grace and go untouched from when they are recieved to when we get the next one.

We tend to recycle ours…..in the bin. But what a waste of paper, surely there is something better we can do with them?

Directories could have many uses. They are great for little ones to sit on when they can’t reach the table, they make a good door stop, and they can be used to prop up the end of a crooked work table in your workshop. Oh yeah, they are even great for starting a fire.

What do you use yours for?

VOIP Is Here To Stay

Welcome to the twenty first century. If you are still making your phone calls with that plastic device with the push buttons, you really are not in the twenty first century.

The booming trend now is phone service voip. VOIP means “voice over IP” and calling is what it is all about. What you get when you use phone service voip is the ability to call virtually for free because you are calling from your computer to someone else’s computer over the Internet.

There are no charges to your local or long distance phone company.

VOIP has been threatening to come of age for many years and has for a long time been an emerging technology that seems to be, well, always emerging but it finally looks like it is really here to stay.

Quality has gotten a lot better and businesses are really starting to take notice of the savings that can be made by avoiding the additional cost of a tradtional phone network.

Are the phone companies happy about it? Of course not, but the saving grace for them is that we still use their cable backbone, at least until we all go wireless of course.

To Text Or Phone? That Is The Question

Are you a classified cell phone junky? There’s no reason to deny your addiction. In fact, you probably just got through texting someone just now. I see it everyday. It’s like a compulsive addictive disorder.

People across the globe are constantly pulling a wireless phone from their pocket or purse to send a text message. Well, since there’s pretty much no hope of getting you to stop, about the only thing to do is embrace the routine.

Funny thing is though although it’s probably far easier to actually make a phone call, and people do enjoy verbal interaction, people will still text instead. The phone companies love this as often the cost of a text is more than the cost of a call…..bizarre, but I’m sure its well planned.

The moral of this story? Make sure if your an avid textaholic that your phone plan has plenty or if not unlimited texts each month.
